Well. To Listicles, my favorite Monday thing. Teri Sonoda has chosen this week’s topic: 10 things that make your life easier.

Here are mine – well, some of them anyway:

  1. Monday Listicles (the antidote to blogger’s block!)
  2. My housekeeper (sorry, Stasha, I just could not leave this one off the list..come what may!).
  3. Netflix (I’m still boycotting cable TV but hey, there’s Netflix).
  4. Online shopping (it save so much time, gas, and energy – and there aren’t any crowds).
  5. Paying with my ATM card (does anyone remember cash? Anyone??)
  6. The fact that Montessori school has no homework or tests (I can’t begin to tell you how much this has saved me).
  7. Getting enough sleep (this applies to every member of our family).
  8. Using my crockpot to cook “slow food” (most frequently cooked recipe: traditional Irish stew) & my wok to cook “fast food” (most frequently cooked recipe: ginger chicken with brown rice and veggies).
  9. My iPhone (does anyone remember landlines? Anyone??).
  10. The doors on my Honda Odyssey that automatically open at the press of a button (especially helpful dropping off/picking up at school, and after grocery shopping!)

  1. Paying with the ATM card is awesome.

I also LOVE paying bills online – I remember the days I used to have to run around paying bills at counters.

I have a weekly cleaning service. THANK YOU GOD (and husband).

  2. I bough my kid the pretend play shop set and he did not understand what those papers were. Clearly I never use cash…
And I am glad you have someone helping you out :) She does fold well!! Thank you for the listicle love xo

  3. Online shopping is a beautiful thing, I think I like that one too much :) I’m always shocked when the person in front of me in line somewhere starts writing a check for something – the ATM card is awesome as well! I’m very jealous of the housekeeper but love the list! We need to look in to Montessori schools….

    • I know! Paying by check – WTF? Who does that anymore? Are you from the Renaissance era or something? And cash – dubloons!

  4. Your list brought such mixed feelings! I was like “Yeah! ATM card,” then I was like, “NO homework or tests?” clearly I’m not as smart as I think I am. And my cleaning lady quit in November and after the ruckus and drama, I have not had the heart to replace. And besides, my husband has enjoyed the bounce to our budget. It brought tears of nostalgia to my eyes. But seriously, great list. :) Ellen

  5. Sleep does make everything that much easier. I didn’t write about my cleaning lady this week…I think I’ve given her enough praise! Though she is a Godsend!

  6. I’m envious of your cleaning lady, how I wish. with you on the online shopping and the ATM cards. irish stew? recipe to follow? or the ginger chicken. Both sound good.

  7. I LOVE my automatic doors on my minivan, I don’t even have to leave the car to let the kids out, it’s great. And the crockpot is one of the greatest inventions ever, I love mine! Great List – I love all these! :) :)

  8. It makes is so hard to contemplate going back to a “new” car without the push button doors. So I am keeping my old and cruddy van for now, because I am lazy.

  9. Since we moved to France, I miss my crazy-housekeeper-who-we-think-was-in-witness-protection more than you can possibly imagine. Other than Lasik, it was the best money I ever spent in my life.

  10. Love your list. Modern conveniences are wonderful. I do however love my land line. I just think conversations are better on it! Something solid in the connection.

  11. I love my iPhone! Makes life so much simpler! I forgot all about my wok and slow cooker. Yes, nothing beats the slow cooker for a nice time saver!

  12. LOVE my crock pot and wok. I forgot to mention those. Cool list. I WISH I had a housekeeper. As soon as I sell my first great novel, I’ll get one. LOL. No really. And maybe a masseuse.
    Awesome list! Thanks for sharing!
    Terri

  13. Crock pot was my number 11. Though the weather is so warm here now I haven’t pulled it out in a while. And no Homework….oh. Don’t even get me started on trying to do homework with an exhausted child.

  14. I’m pretty sure that without most of these my world would cease to exist, and the only reason that’s not “all” is because my child hasn’t reached pre-school yet, and the one time I tried to use a wok I almost set our house on fire. :)

  15. I also love my crock-pot. :) We also now have an Odessey, but no automatic doors. That sounds awesome. :) My kids always fight over who opens the door to the van, so I would like to open it with a push of a button.

    • The automatic button thing on the Odyssey is truly something that make’s a mom’s life easier – esp. when you have to open the back up to put the groceries in – sooo helpful.

  16. I sooo wish I had a cleaning lady come into the frat house and help me out. I’m afraid though she’d take one look at the place and run away screaming!!!I think living with 3 teenage/college age boys in the house is worst than living with a houseful of chickens that run around freely.
