It’s finally happened: I’ve been quoted.
My friend Laverne over at Kindred Adventures put my quote up at her blog today, so I’m feeling rather famous. Click here to see her post.
I often wonder what it might feel like to be someone like Ella – verbally witty, always ready with a quick retort or something so good that I need to write it down, always being quoted. Well, now I know what it feels like. I only have about 1,000 more witty things to come up with before I catch up with her. (By the way, if you’re wondering why I rarely quote Fiona – it’s because she isn’t constantly spewing out witty comments on a daily basis like Ella is. Fiona’s gift is music. Where Ella has the gift of the gab, Fiona’s “quotes” come in the form musical notes. So to hear them, you just need to sit in our living room and listen. I’m afraid I can’t write ‘em down.)
Speaking of verbally gifted people, a friend sent me this letter that Ronald Reagan wrote to his son. It is stunning. To me it’s a beautiful example of what a father can be for his son – how men can teach their sons to love. It’s worth a read, and worth passing on.

Congratulations on the quotation!
I’m afraid I find that letter from Reagan to Michael more offensively sexist than charming. I know it’s a product of the times, but I’m afraid I can’t read it without a 21st century perspective. Still, it is a fascinating look into Reagan’s internal life..
Good point. (-:
You’re big time now, my friend – YAY!
Huge! (-;
Congrats on the quote! It was only a matter of time before something like that happened for you. You know, you could always shoot a video of Fi playing music…
Thanks for sharing that letter. I really enjoyed reading it.
Love your wit girl. It is a cruel twist if fate you married someone super witty and as a result gave birth to little wit champions. Cause really you yourself are rather fab!!
Thanks for that, Stasha! (-:
I discovered quite early on, as a young parent–I think it was just about the time my girls developed the language skills to quote things I said, that were no more than five words long–anyway, I discovered that I would gladly give up trendy, reliable, hysterically funny wit, for NEVER being quoted–at least by my kids. ♥
Girl, you wrote a NOVEL! You have a book published, if that’s not worth shouting from the rooftops, and a major stroke to the ego, then I don’t know what is?
I love the quote and I never thought I’d find you quoting Reagan on here. Isn’t that more your hubby’s style?
Oh my god that is amazing! I long to be quoted. So far I’ve only been quoted by myself (or for someone’s blog, but that doesn’t count like this does). I must pin this!
I saw this last week and I meant to stop by…. You are so sweet to put this in one of your posts. I have som much fun making those! You wit, life perspective and way with words put me in aw and often move me to tears of laughter! MWAH -LV
