OMG, I Have A 500th Facebook Fan!

This week my Facebook fan page hit 500 Likes, mainly because I pimped myself on Twitter so that people would feel sorry for me and Like my page:

The 500th person who liked my page on my blog is <drum roll please!>…Allison McCaskill of BiblioMama!

I am so lucky that I got Allison as my 500th person to feature because she’s my kind of ideal reader in many ways. First of all she’s a mom, and she’s brutally honest on her blog (writing about books, funny shit her kids say, depression and anxiety, and the terrible mystery that is the odor emanating from her son’s baseball socks), and she loves to read. How cool is her profile: “There Will Be Snark”? And PS: I have a pathological love for all Canadians. They are just so nice, eh? Allison’s blog is about comedy, tragedy, horror, and drama. She writes honestly about depression and anxiety, and read this post last year at Blogging Out Loud Ottawa, this one the day after her daughter’s 9th birthday, and this one where she tried to be a smartass for a change.

In “If Only Bed Bugs Were The Major Problem,” she writes about how she is tired because she hasn’t had a good night’s sleep in 30 years (and she’s not kidding). And like me, she went to Blogher ’12, and wrote a post about her experience, HangovHer. Unlike my post about what happened at Blogher, which some people did not enjoy, ahem, many people actually enjoyed Allison’s.So please go follow her on Twitter if you like some snark, and check out her blog!

And the 499th person who felt sorry for me and Liked my page was:

Sarah Colnic of Real Girls Lingerie – Momalog Facebook follower #499!

Why I follow the Momalog:  I’m not Ado’s typical follower. Athough I love other people’s children, I have none of my own, and don’t anticipate any.  I discovered her on Twitter.  Her tweets are fresh, humorous, and always make my day!!” (Note from Ado: I did not pay Sarah to say this stuff.) I share a little house with a BIG YARD with my dog, a shepherd mix named Daisy-Cakes and BIG KITTY named Shamrock who was adopted on St Paddy’s Day.

People say I have an adventuresome spirit and I’m very open to try new things. I’ve traveled to almost every state and over 15 countries.  I am a sports fan and will watch almost any sports. I like to think I am very true to who I am.

I founded my company, Real Girls, specializing in lingerie that provides support without sacrificing style. I am Real Girls. I do the designing. I am an active part of all pattern-making, sample-making, and fittings. I direct all photoshoots. I’m involved in all day-to-day operations.  My favorite part of Real Girls is being there when a new item finally comes to fruition.

Real Girls collections are available exclusively on our website (realgirlslingerie.com). Real Girls brand is offering The Momalog followers a 15% discount until Sept 30, 2012! All orders will also include a free gift. Please use coupon code: MOMALOG12 during checkout.

Follow Sarah on Facebook and Twitter!

Next week I’m going to feature another super-cool Momalog Facebook Liker:

Casey Carey-Brown of Life With Roozle

Please go check them out and tell them Ado sent you! (BTW, it’s pronounced “Aye-dough,” which rhymes with “Play Doh”, not “Adoo,” which rhymes with “poo.” At Blogher someone came up to me and said, “Hi Adoo! Glad to finally meet you!” – I had to correct her, and we both felt sheepish about the whole thing.)

So…anyhoo, thanks to all of you who liked my page. We have a vibrant little community going on over there, and it pretty much makes my day, every day. Thank you for the Likes!

  1. That’s very sweet of you, to feature your likers :)

Also, clever. Hmm, I should do this. Starting over my FB page was hard. I’m still down 300 likers from my previous page. Le sigh.

    • It was a clever idea to pimp my page and get another Liker or two, and it is a good way to get to know peeps on my page! (-:

  4. How did you do it? I’m stuck at 306 or something. I don’t do much pimping – maybe I should?

    • Just keep doing what you’re doing and writing good stuff and people will come. It’s taken me 14 months to get here. One big daddy blogger got 100k FB followers in his first 4 months. When I investigated, it was all due to stirring up controversies with other daddy bloggers (and a very underhanded way to go about growing an audience!) Pimping like this got me 5 or 6 followers. Mostly I just get a couple a week and it’s just fine with me…good luck!

  5. Lol I don’t really have a grasp of what Facebook is or what a “like” is but I gather it is something good, so congratulations! All I know about twitter is that it makes my husband’s phone make funny noises, which causes me to scowl and roll my eyes. He had me set up a Twitter account once and then people started following me and I just posted to them “why are you following me, I didn’t say anything?” and that was the end of that. I really wish the Harry Potter world was real and I was a witch and we could just send each other owls. Anyway congratulations again and keep up the good work!

    • Oh my God, that is SO FUNNY!
It’s also a sociological statement about how easy it is for people to “follow something” – scary!

  6. Aaack, I just clicked on some links from this page and somehow ended up on the blog of this gorgeous mom about my age who not only organizes her gorgeous house to perfection but insists I can do this to my own home. She also used to be heavy with a pic to prove it, but did what she calls organized weight loss and now looks like a model. She even does organized prayer. I’m having a massive panic attack now. I won’t tell you how many likes she has. I’m going to go hide and sob in the disorganized closet of our beach condo now, knowing full well when I get home, it will be to a house that will never ever be remotely organized or on a proper schedule. I am just glad I didn’t click on the organized prayer page because if I did I’d be sure I am going to hell. I didn’t know BlogHer could be such a scary place.

      • I found it when I clicked on the green and white kitchen picture on the right hand side of this page. It was linked in there. I can’t stop looking at her blog, she is so organized that it’s blowing my mind. She even managed to organize her husband’s closet and her kids’ entire rooms. That is not humanly possible. I kept thinking of how happy you were when your maid folded everybody’s underwear and I kept thinking oh my God what if Ado sees this woman’s closets? For myself, I can not look away, like a mouse mesmerized by a cobra. Our sightseeing cruise got cancelled today so I had some downtime while we regrouped and figured out new plans. So I went to see her organized prayer page. I just had to. How could I not? I now know I’m going to hell. The number of likes she has is also beyond reckoning. I still don’t know what a “like” is so I told Mike about how many this woman has and he says it is an astonishing number for a blog of its type.. I am going to have to click on your friend’s blog and read about her son’s smelly sock so I can feel happy about life again and right with the world. I personally feel closest to God when I behold a smelly sock. I don’t mean that the way it sounds, though.

        • You are so funny. You should start a blog. It could be a blog all about how you feel about that other woman’s blog. (-:
